Mustafa new Dry Skin range - Review

Dry skin is basically flaky and/or rough grainy skin at touch.

Mustela's new range is said to:

• give immediate long-lasting nourishment
• clinically proven to be safe and effective
• contains patented natural active ingredients

1) Bath: pour 1-2 capfuls of Bath Oil into bath water. Wash and gently pat dry with towel. You can also apply directly to wet skin (but you would need to rinse off with water again!). Bath oil will make the tub slippery. So ensure you have an anti-slip mat in the tub and always hold your baby securely as you shower him/her.

2) Moisturise: apply Nourishing Lotion with Cold Cream (body) generously all over baby in the morning and evening. Best results when applied right after bath as their pores are open and it absorbs better. My advise is to spam moisturiser. 

Apply the thicker Nourishing Cream with Cold Cream (Face) on baby's face, especially in air conditioned rooms or when heading out. 

My baby sleeps in 23-24 degrees air conditioned room so these are the steps i won't omit.

In case you are new to Mustela, their products do not contain paragon and 95% of the ingredients are of natural origins.

Day 1

Audria have multiple dry spots over her arms and feet, but this is the spot I've chosen for the challenge. As you can see, the area near her elbow is extremely dry and flaky.

Day 7

The flakes got better after 7 consecutive days of application.

Day 14

Almost no evidence of dry skin.

Stunning results i must say.

Since we have started her on it, we bid goodbye to dry and sensitive skin.

That's how amazed we are with Mustela's new range and also her rate of recovery.

Babies are indeed resilient and have amazing recovery progress.

And this is the reason why i swear by their products.

They have proven to work on myself, and my baby.

Mustela 14 days challenge

As you all know, i have been a huge fan of Mustela products.

Since i was pregnant last year, i have been using their stretch marks lotion.

Post-Pregnancy, i am still applying their body firming gel.

You can read all about it in my past entries.

And Audria has been on their derma-cleansing bath and vitamin barrier since birth.
They have recently rebrand and redesigned their derma range.
But it works the same.

Mustela have kindly sent me their latest Dry Skin range to try:

Bath Oil

Nourishing lotion with cold cream (body)

Facial cold cream

I was thinking "great! Ever since the scabies episode, my poor girl has been suffering from dry skin and eczema due to the frequent use of Desowen Lotion".

I will share more about this episode on a separate entry.

Dry skin is a very common problem for infants and newborns.
Their skin is sensitive, delicate and flaky during the first few days or weeks after birth.
You may want to avoid bathing a newborn too often as it strips their skin of the natural moisture and oil.

I remember giving Audria her first "real" bath in the tub after her full month party.
During the first 30 days, i just wipe her down or sponge her private area.
At 7 months, she is currently enjoying bath time a lot.

She is currently at the stage where by she puts everything in her mouth.

We have thus been faithfully using this range for the past week or so.

5 weeks Post Partum: Hep B jab (2nd dose) / Mustela review; Stretch marks prevention

We bought little Audria for her Hep B (second dose) jab yesterday.
If you are intending to do it at the polyclinic, its free for citizens and appointment must be made in advance.
We were in and out of the clinic in 30min, they clear immunisation and baby queues very efficiently.

They checked on her BCG, height, weight, eyes and some basic motor skills.
We took another Bilirubin test but this time didn't get results on the spot because doctor said after 4 weeks old, the "express" results not accurate. So if we don't get a call from the clinic today, it means her jaundice is about to be cleared or getting better.
Paid $4.90 for this blood test.

Next appointment is before she hits 12 weeks old.
We are thinking of 6in1, with oral rotavirus.
So many types of immunisations these days!

And by the way, we haven't once seen our PD Terence Tan at Mount A since i got discharged.
Was wondering, what for.
Polyclinic doing sucha good (and cheap) job at infant assessment.
Will save the money for more serious cases or 1st year checkup.

These are some of the products i used throughout my pregnancy from 2nd trimester onwards.
Bio Oil and Mustela stretch marks prevention oil/cream namely.
Worked very well for me because i don't have stretch marks or scars.
I think its just genes anyways.
Bio Oil caused a breakout on my belly though. I didn't even finish half the bottle.
I do notice my belly skin is slightly darker now though..and my linea nigra is till there.
Hormones.

Invested in the Mustela body firming cream for post partum.
I massage it on my belly religiously after showers.
Hoping to tone the skin there although its not saggy.
But thats also not my priority.
Nailing breastfeeding at home and in public is my top top top priority.
Havent a challenging time with the latch.

So as you can already tell, I'm a huge fan of Mustela products.
Only because it works and smells pretty awesome.
I rather no scent though.

Oh gees, i will never ever clear my sleep debt.
The bubs is doing well, sleeping very soundly after a nice warm bath.
I better go catch some rest too.

3 weeks Post Partum: baby wearing

I have tried a variety, namely:

1) sollybabywrap
2) je porte mon bebe
3) tula infant

Love this wrap; its stretchy and material is great for our warm climate.
Audria likes it in there too.
Its easy to tie and wear but i find it hard to nurse her inside because she lies down for a feed.
You can get yours here.

This ring sling is another great option.
My husband loves wearing her in it.
Material is great for our climate too and Audria sleeps well in it when we bring her out.
Only downside is your shoulder might ache over long hours.
If you want something to even out the weight, i suggest the sollybabywrap or get a baby carrier.
Then again, it might give you backache over time.
It differs from person to person.

For the Tula, she is too small to be using it, so i will review this sometime down the road (:

The Woombie true air has been a lifesaver.
No need to swaddle and wrap her after each diaper change.
Sometimes it wakes her up from a deep sleep and you know..never wake the sleeping monster.
We got ours at 2 for $70 during the baby fair.
Size 0-3 fits slightly large on her.

Below are some essentials we use on her during each change/shower.

Am particularly liking the Mustela Barrier Cream.
So far no rash, we only use Huggies Ultra on her. My mum keeps telling me to cloth diaper her. Hello, who's gonna do laundry for me?
Sometimes we give her "air time" in between each diaper change.

Been researching on some bottle warmers and baby food blender.
For the later stages when i wean her.

Have shortlisted these 2.
The Kiinde cost about $99 and the Philips Avent baby food maker 4-in-1 is about $199.
Hope to get these during the baby fair on 29th April.
